The BEST robot vacuum cleaners of 2024: review of the TOP 10 flagships

The best robot vacuum cleaners of 2024 Ratings

Hey guys, welcome to RobotObzor! Today we’ll review the best robot vacuum cleaners of 2024 as of the end of July. I purposely didn’t make this rating earlier as i wanted for all new products to be announced at the beginning of the year. And now, having tested all the latest flagships, I have determined the best in their each respect. This review will include the 10 most functional and effective models that deserve to be called one of the best in 2024. And yeah, you’ll see a lot of Dreame and Roborock, as they are the current leaders in the market, having simultaneously released several flagships one after another, each of which has its own strengths even within the same brand line. Let’s get rolling!

Dreame X40 Ultra

Dreame X40 Ultra

  • High suction power.
  • Object detection system with integrated AI and backlighting.
  • Remote home monitoring.

  • Wipes washed with hot water.
  • Wipes dried with warm air.
  • Automatic detergent dispenser.
  • Sweeps dirt in the corners.
  • Rotating cloth extended.
  • Wipe lift on carpets
  • Turbobrush and side brush lifted.
  • Turbobrush self-cleans from hair.
  • Scrubs off difficult stains.
  • “Ok Dreame” voice assistant.
  • Warranty and servicing available.

This rating’s gold medal of course goes over to Dreame X40 Ultra. It’s overall the most advanced robot vacuum in terms of functionality and design. You get the full deal with an object detection system, effective cleaning features such as the bladed brush roller as well as a retractable wipe that extends out to sweep out dirt in the corners and two cloths that effectively remove dirt. What’s more is that in narrow gaps, the robot rotates with its back to rinse the floor even deeper.

The station is pretty cool too: it self-cleans the dirt container, washes the cloths with hot water and dries them with warm air, and automatically mixes detergent into the water. The station can also be connected to sewerage and water supply by purchasing a module.

The robot itself showed excellent in its tests. It’s pretty powerful, neat, efficient and easy to maintain.

It can also be considered as an alternative to the Dreame X30 Ultra, but this robot does not have a retractable side brush.

Dreame L20 Ultra

  • Warranty and servicing available.
  • High suction power.
  • Object recognition system with integrated AI and backlighting.
  • Remote home monitoring.
  • Connection to the utilities.
  • Wipes washed with hot water.
  • Wipes dried with warm air.
  • Automatic detergent dispenser.
  • Wipe extends to edge.
  • Wipe lift on carpets
  • “Ok Dreame” voice assistant.
  • Doesn’t sweep dirt in the corners.
  • With difficulty scrubs off difficult stains.
  • A big station.

Our runner up is another vacuum from Dreame – the Dreame L20 Ultra. We saw this as the frontrunner for 2023, but the sales haven’t stopped and with them positive reviews from new happy buyers. So what’s so interesting? In reality, its not much different from the previous. Basically it’s a larger station, no retractable side brush, and no back-end spinning when the wipe comes out. A bladed turbo brush is also not included in the standard kit, but can be purchased separately. The main thing is that it fits this robot.

In the tests, Dreame L20 Ultra performed well with minimum difference. Check out our review for a deeper dive in!

Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra

Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra
Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra
  • Price: $1800.
  • Warranty and servicing available.
  • Object recognition system with integrated AI and backlighting.
  • Remote home monitoring.
  • Wipes washed with hot water.
  • Wipes dried with warm air.
  • Automatic detergent dispenser.
  • Sweeps dirt in the corners.
  • Extra wipe on the edge.
  • Wipe lift on carpets
  • Tubrobrushes lift..
  • Two silicon Tubrobrushes.
  • “Hey Rocky” voice assistant.
  • With difficulty scrubs off difficult stains.
  • Given suction power wasn’t confirmed in tests.
  • Utility connection with a seperate station.

And to close the top 3 we have the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. The brand’s flagship this year, which just went on sale. There is a Global version. The robot itself has a very accurate illuminated object recognition system, a retractable side brush for sweeping in corners, as well as two silicone turbo brushes for high-quality dirt collection and to prevent hair and fur from wrapping. And most importantly – an additional cloth at the edge, which made it possible to wash the floor close to furniture and wall edges. It’s also in the top 10 best robot vacuums of 2024.

Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra washes the cloths with hot water, dries them with warm air and automatically mixes detergent from a separate tank. The power is iffy, and it takes longer to scrub off the stains than the others, plus the station doesn’t connect to the utilities in the regular version. However, the robot is efficient, smart and autonomous. Some might consider Roborock over Dreame just for the brand’s credibility, and consider this to be the best.

Dreame X40 Pro Ultra

Dreame X40 Pro Ultra
Dreame X40 Pro Ultra
  • Price: $1200
  • Slim body.
  • High suction power.
  • Object recognition system with integrated AI and backlighting.
  • Remote home monitoring.
  • Connection to the utilities..
  • Wipes washed with hot water.
  • Wipes dried with warm air.
  • Automatic detergent dispenser.
  • Rotating cloth extended.
  • Wipe lift on carpets
  • Two silicon Tubrobrushes.
  • Turbobrushes and side brush lifted.
  • Sweep dirt in the corners.
  • No Warranty and Servicing.
  • Regional blocking (can be bypassed).

Another cool robot vacuum cleaner from Dreame is the flagship model Dreame X40 Pro Ultra. It is cheaper than the global versions L20/X30 Ultra/X40 Ultra and has more features, but the problem is that there is a regional application lock. It can be bypassed if necessary, but there is no warranty from the manufacturer. This is a nuance. But the robot has many advantages. The first and most important addition was the dynamic Lidar. The company developed its own technology aimed at getting the areas that were too low for the robot. This vacuum can hide its Lidar in its body if it needs to go under something low to the ground. The height of the robot with the lidar tucked away is 8.8 cm (3.4 In.).

Dreame X40 Pro Ultra has been equipped with VSLAM technology, which lets the robot use the obstacle detection camera to build a map when the Lidar is hidden.

I’ll add that Dreame X40 Pro Ultra can recognize more than 70 objects, as well as extra dirty areas, puddles or spilled liquids, take a picture of them and mark them on the map. Photos of the objects can be viewed directly on the map.

The second addition is a brand new cleaning module. Dreame X40 Pro Ultra is the first robot from Dreame to have double rollers. The side brush has also been updated. The robot can extend the side brush forward out of the body to get the corners 100% clean.

Dreame X40 Pro Ultra: Two turbobrushes
Two turbobrushes

Let’s stop and talk about how the power was upgraded to 13000 Pa. It’s currently the most powerful robot vacuum on the market, if we’re using the power given by the manufacturers.

The station also got an update. It looks identical to the Dreame Bot X30 Pro station, i.e. the robot self-cleans itself from debris, as well as washes cloths and dries them with warm air.

And lastly, they’ve added an AI voice assistant – DreameGPT. Now the vacuum can understand not only basic commands, such as: “return to station”, “increase power”, etc., but also inaccurate, mumbled and incomplete commands. You just tell the robot to clean the kitchen and that its dirty, and it’ll tell you exactly what to clean and how based on the needed settings. Now you won’t have to resort to a manual or the internet to figure out exactly how to fix a problem. The robot itself will tell you everything step by step. You can also give descriptions of the area that needs to be cleaned and tell the robot what you want it to do, and it will adjust everything itself.

Dreame L10s Pro Ultra

Dreame L10s Pro Ultra
Dreame L10s Pro Ultra
  • Price: $900.
  • Warranty and servicing included.
  • High suction power.
  • Object detection system with integrated AI but no lighting.
  • Remote home monitoring.
  • Connection to the utilities..
  • Wipes washed with hot water.
  • Wipes dried with warm air.
  • Automatic detergent dispenser.
  • Wipe extends to edge.
  • Wipe lift on carpets
  • Scrubs off difficult stains.
  • Doesn’t sweep dirt in the corners.
  • Object detection system is blind in the dark..

And for our last Dreame robot vacuum, closing up the Top 5, is the new Dreame L10s Pro Ultra Heat. Again, very similar to the older models in the line, but with its own niche changes. It’s pretty affordable, and a global version with post-purchase servicing available. High suction power and high-quality cleaning with all the features of flagships. It doesn’t have a backlight, so it goes blind in the dark, just like there’s no retractable side brush and a bladed turbo brush, but you can purchase one if you’d like.

Overall though, this could make more sense for some people over the L20, thanks to the more convenient detergent reservoir and the station’s compact size. Again, it depends on what you’re looking for.

Roborock Qrevo MaxV

Roborock Qrevo MaxV
Roborock Qrevo MaxV
  • Price: $1200.
  • High suction power.
  • Object recognition system with integrated AI and backlighting.
  • Remote home monitoring.
  • Wipes washed with hot water.
  • Wipes dried with warm air.
  • Wipe extends to edge.
  • Wipe lift on carpets.
  • Turbobrush lifts.
  • “Hey Rocky” voice assistant.
  • Low volume.
  • With difficulty scrubs off difficult stains.
  • Doesn’t sweep dirt in the corners.
  • No automatic detergent adding.
  • Utility connection with a seperate station.

Moving on to the sixth place – Roborock Qrevo MaxV. The entire Qrevo line is a direct response to Dreame. They also know how to make round rotating cloths, but their specialty is the S-line vibrating module. QrevoMaxV is in some respect even better than S8 MaxV Ultra. It’s actually more powerful, since it doesn’t lose suction power on the double brushes. It also cleans the floor better if you compare how damp your floor is. And most importantly, this model is cheaper.

Cleaning module Qrevo MaxV
Cleaning module Qrevo MaxV

In terms of how well it picks up dirt, then two brushes is still better than one, and the side brush doesn’t get all the way in the corner. Plus, there’s no separate detergent tank. So it only gets 6th place. But hey, if you can overlook my comments, and your priority is choosing a Roborock robot that cleans the floor, then this is the one for you. By the way, the new Roborock Qrevo Master has already been released, which can be considered as an alternative to Qrevo MaxV, but until I test it, I can’t say anything.

Roborock S8 Max Ultra

  • Price: $1400.
  • Warranty and servicing available.
  • Object detection system without lighting.
  • Wipes washed with hot water.
  • Wipes dried with warm air.
  • Automatic detergent dispenser.
  • Sweeps dirt in the corners.
  • Extra wipe on the edge.
  • Wipe lift on carpets
  • Turbobrushes lift.
  • Two silicon Turbobrushes.
  • Low volume
  • With difficulty scrubs off difficult stains.
  • Given suction power wasn’t confirmed in tests.
  • Utility connection with a seperate station.
  • No remote home monitoring.

And next up, another Roborock I chose to include is the Roborock S8 Max Ultra. Thanks to them removing the voice assistant and the active home monitoring camera, they cut the costs by $300-400. With all this, the robot’s functionality hasn’t changed, it’s the same in terms of power, cleaning quality and autonomy. It has a retractable side brush of a similar design, a convenient and functional station and the same features in the app. I’d say this is good for those that want the best of the best without being afraid of being spied on.

Ecovacs Deebot T30 PRO Omni

Ecovacs Deebot T30 PRO Omni
Ecovacs Deebot T30 PRO Omni
  • Price: $900.
  • High suction power.
  • Scrubs off difficult stains really well.
  • Connection to the utilities.
  • Wipes washed with hot water.
  • Wipes dried with warm air.
  • Wipe extends to edge.
  • Wipe lift on carpets
  • Turbobrush protected from coiling hair around it.
  • Doesn’t sweep dirt in the corners.
  • No warranty from the official manufacturer.
  • “Raw” object detection system.
  • No remote home monitoring.

Next up is the Ecovacs Deebot T30 PRO Omni. Ecovacs has lagged behind the competition in terms of their technology recently, but they still have awesome products. First and foremost, Ecovacs Deebot T30 PRO Omni was faster than all other competitors in wiping off hard stains. That is, they’re better when mopping, since they press on the floor harder. The high power is also a plus. And lastly, it has a better looking price with very similar characteristics and functions. And so this is a very powerful robot that mops the floor super well, what else would you need?

Cleaning module T30 PRO Omni

One thing the manufacturer really needs to work on is the object detection system, and head turners that set it aside from the competition. And the most important thing is that this is sold from official distributors, which is a whole problem usually. But the robot itself is good, and I’ll show you that at the end in the table.

Xiaomi Mijia M30S

Xiaomi Mijia M30S
Xiaomi Mijia M30S
  • Price: $550-600.
  • High suction power.
  • Connection to the utilities.
  • Wipes washed with hot water.
  • Wipes dried with warm air.
  • Wipe extends to the edge.
  • Wipe lift on carpets
  • Turbobrush self-cleans from hair.
  • Doesn’t sweep dirt in the corners.
  • No warranty from the official manufacturer.
  • “Raw” object detection system.
  • Is afraid of medium height carpets.
  • No remote home monitoring.

Next we actually have the most bang for its buck, we have the Xiaomi Mijia M30S OMNI Infinite. This is provided you have short carpets, since the object detection system is pretty sensitive to tall carpets, even when the sensor system on the front of the bumper is turned off. This is perhaps the main point. It was also made for the Chinese market, but don’t hold your breath, you won’t have to work around any blocks. So what dos it have to offer? Just the highest power, a cloth that extends to the baseboard, a bladed turbo brush, like Dreame, and an “All-in-One” station. And you can find this all for $600, or even cheaper.

Clening module M30S
Clening module M30S

That is, structurally it is in many ways similar to the more premium models, even from the TOP-5. Nevertheless, it still has its differences, making it somewhat cheaper. Again, you can see all the differences in the table, but if this is your first robot vacuum or your budget is limited, then this will be all you need.

Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro

Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro
Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro
  • Price: $500-600.
  • Object recognition system with integrated AI and backlighting.
  • Connection to the utilities..
  • Wipes washed with hot water.
  • Wipes dried with warm air.
  • Body spins to eliminate blind spot near the wall.
  • Wipe lift on carpets
  • Turbobrush self-cleans from hair.
  • Doesn’t sweep dirt in the corners.
  • No warranty from the official manufacturer.
  • No remote home monitoring.
  • Given suction power wasn’t confirmed in tests.

Last but not least, Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro. If you think its similar to the M30s, you couldn’t be further from the truth. Unlike it’s companion, it boasts an accurate backlit object detection system. The hair is cleaned off a bit differently too. Instead of blades on the brush, you have them at the bottom of the station. Among the advanced functions, the only thing missing is that the mopping pads extends to the edge, but the manufacturer solved the issue with the blind spot by riding the back of the case along the baseboards and furniture. The power is lower than was stated, but it still did an awesome job mopping and vacuuming on any surface. Overall, this is an awesome alternative to the Mijia M30s on budget of under $600 if you prioritize the object detection system over the power.

Here are the 10 best robot vacuum cleaners as of the end of July 2024. On this note, I’d like to end the review. If you still have questions, make sure to ask them in the comments down below. Have fun shopping, bye!
