Eufy RoboVac G30 Hybrid: gyro robot vacuum with good navigation and wet cleaning mode

Eufy RoboVac G30 Hybrid review Eufy

Hi, everyone! Welcome to Robotobzor! Today I`m gonna review an Eufy robot vacuum cleaner from Anker brand. The model is called the RoboVac G30 Hybrid. This is not the first robot of the Eufy brand that I`m luckily testing. Earlier I reviewed the junior in the RoboVac G10 Hybrid line and the flagship RoboVac L70 Hybrid. The G30 model is quiet average in the range and outstands with dry and wet cleaning function as well as real time room map generating option and also useful functionality in a branded mobile app. Next, I will review and test the RoboVac G30 Hybrid more detailed and express my opinion if this robot vacuum cleaner is worth buying. It costs about $350-400. So let’s go!

Well, we can say the equipment is complete, there are all the necessary items for the first time of robot usage. The remote control is not provided as an alternative control method.

Design

Let`s see how does Eufy RoboVac G30 Hybrid looks. It has rounded shape, designed in black and brown colors. The top cover is glossy. The case height is only 2.8 inches.

A soft-touch mechanical bumper is installed at the front. On the top cover we see a control panel, which has an indicator of connection to a Wi-Fi network and three mechanical buttons: start/pause, forced return to the base for charging and spot cleaning mode.

The dustbin is located at the back. It holds up to 450 ml (15.2 oz) of dry waste. Filtration system based on HEPA filter only. The manufacturer allows the filter to be washed with water, the main thing is then to completely dry it before installing again.

The wet cleaning nozzle holds up to 130 ml (4.3 oz) of water. It goes to the napkin by gravity through 2 holes with metering valves. The napkin is attached to the nozzle by a groove and velcro. It is important to note that the napkin is “bald” on the sides, without lint, which is not really good, considering the quality of wiping off dust along the baseboards.

Let’s see how the RoboVac G30 Hybrid is designed from the bottom. It`s equipped with 4 fall protection sensors, as well as an optical sensor that helps the robot to better navigate in space.

One side brush, three-beam, quick-detachable. On the side we see a brush, which makes it easier to clean the brush from coiled hair. The central brush is bristly-petal. The mechanism is not demountable.

I can say that the build quality of the RoboVac G30 Hybrid is above average, there are no complaints about the robot. It`s produced from high quality plastic, I didn`t notice any backlashes and sloppy joints.

Technical features

The main characteristics of the Eufy RoboVac G30 Hybrid are displayed. Pause the video if you wanna read more detailed about the specification:

  • Battery Li-Ion 2600 mAh.
  • Suction power up to 2000 Pa.
  • Working time up to 100 min.
  • The capacity of the dust collector is 450 ml (15.2 oz).
  • The capacity of the water tank is 130 ml (4.3 oz).
  • Passage of obstacles up to 16 mm (0.6 inches).
  • Size: 325*73 mm (12.7 * 2.8 inches).

The characteristics are quite standard, I can`t highlight something special.

Functionality

Let’s move on to the functionality overview. RoboVac G30 Hybrid is controlled via a branded mobile app. It is very simple to connect the robot to the network, just follow manufacturer’s prompts.

App control
App control

On the main work panel, the robot displays info about the last cleaning. If you click on the “Map” section, you can view the map generated by the robot. It does not store it in memory, but it does in the cleaning log. Important to note that the device builds a map of the room in real time, if you use this function at times of cleaning.

At the bottom of the screen, we see the main functions of the robot. It is possible to control the suction power, as well as the choice of the automatic power increase when driving on carpets. Also, you can start the automatic cleaning mode, forced return to the charging base, start the spot cleaning mode, and set up cleaning schedule by choosing the time, days of the week and the required suction power. You can view the cleaning log, which saves information about each cleaning, as well as maps.

In the settings section, you can share control with other users, adjust the volume and language of voice notifications, turn on the search for the robot by a sound signal, start manual control and set the do not disturb mode at a specified time. Additionally, it is possible to turn on the mode of continuing cleaning after recharging at the base, monitor the status of consumables and, if necessary, update the firmware version.

This is all the functionality of the RoboVac G30 Hybrid. I can say, it has all the necessary functions, as for a gyroscopic robot vacuum cleaner. The only thing missing is the electronic adjustment of the water supply to the napkin. Also wanna note that this model supports control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistants.

Testing

Finally, let’s move on to the tests. First, we will check the navigation of the robot vacuum cleaner in the room with obstacles. The RoboVac G30 Hybrid snakes across the available area, then switches to perimeter cleaning mode and returns to the base to charge. The robot vacuum cleaner did not get stuck on the dryer, but did not separately sweep around the box and chair legs. Navigation is standard.

As for navigation within the house, the robot vacuum cleaner in a similar way first goes through the entire available area with a snake, after which it makes a control pass of the perimeter and returns to the base for charging, although the map is frozen at the time of passing the perimeter. Thanks to the tandem of a gyroscope and an optical sensor, the accuracy of the map is very high, so there are no complaints about navigation! There are no uncleaned areas, the cleaning speed is high, the test passed successfully!

Suction power

The suction power of the RoboVac G30 Hybrid is satisfying. It managed to suck out a small part of the debris from the 4 mm slot, while most of its competitors are only able to clean the 2mm slot. To keep home clean this power will be more than enough.

Dry cleaning on laminate

The quality of dust collection from hard surfaces is also satisfying. The robot collected all the dust from the floor, including wool and hair, and even swept out the corners better than most rounded robots. Most of the dust is collected in a dustbin. Wool and hair are wrapped around the center and side brushes. Test passed successfully!

Cleaning the carpet

The same dust was around the carpet and the RoboVac G30 Hybrid cleaned the carpet without any problems. The quality of carpet cleaning is satisfying.

Wet cleaning

No complaints about wet cleaning. The robot was able to wipe off a little dried out dirt from the shoes. There were no divorces left. Only a small strip along the skirting board remained unwashed because of the structure of the napkin and the design of the robot. This area is beyond the reach of all robot vacuum cleaners that we reviewed.

Passage of obstacles

The robot moves over 15 mm (0.5 inches) high lanes without any problems, but the 20 mm (0.7 inches) is over his limit. Passage ability is not the best among robot vacuum cleaners, but the manufacturer already declared the passage ability of no more than 16 mm (0.5 inches).

Passage of dark surfaces

But the robot is not afraid of dark surfaces and freely drives over them, this is a plus!

Noise level

And finally, we check the noise level of the RoboVac G30 Hybrid in different modes. At the minimum power it is in the range of 56-58 dB, at the average power it reaches 62 dB, and at the maximum power the peak value was 67.6 dB. Well, the noise level is standard for a robot vacuum cleaner.

My opinion

The Eufy RoboVac G30 Hybrid has been reviewed. According to our evaluation algorithm, it scored 53 out of 100 points. The result is good, as for a gyro robot. And the result is not bad for its price segment.

Overall rating of robotic vacuum cleaners that have passed the Robotobzor test: https://robotobzor.com/ratings/general-rating-of-robot-vacuum-cleaners.html.

I`ll share my own opinion about the RoboVac G30 Hybrid. I liked:

  1. Good navigation and high accuracy of building a map.
  2. Dry and wet cleaning at the same time.
  3. The suction power is high.
  4. You can limit areas of cleaning by a magnetic tape.
  5. The quality of wet and dry cleaning is above average.
  6. Good build quality.
  7. The robot vacuum cleaner is not afraid of dark surfaces.
  8. Complete set.
  9. All important functions are provided, incl. automatic power increase on carpets and control via voice assistants.

As for the disadvantages, I didn`t find something serious. I can only highlight this:

  1. The robot cannot run over 20 mm (0.7 inches).
  2. There is no electronic regulation of water supply.
  3. There are no advanced functions when working with the map, considering the price.

Robot vacuum cleaner left a positive impression. But for the price of $ 350-400, there are robots on the market with camera-based navigation that can store a map in memory and zone it into rooms, which further opens the possibility of installing virtual walls and restricted areas. The Eufy RoboVac G30 Hybrid is not doing this. But this is a good option for those, who chooses a good robot vacuum cleaner for a small housing area and who does not need the listed functions. I did not find any reason not to recommend it. The robot does a good job.

Here, I would like to end the review. If you have any questions, ask in the comments below the article! Thank you all for your attention. Happy tech shopping everyone. Bye!
