Samsung Jet Bot+ Other brands

Hi to all readers of the ROBOTOBZOR! Today we will review an interesting robot vacuum cleaner from the famous Korean company Samsung. Device was released in 2021 and was called the Samsung Jet Bot +. Model number VR30T85513W/EV. This robot vacuum cleaner boasts a lidar for navigation, a self-cleaning station, control through a branded mobile app and non-standard design of the cleaning module, namely the central brush. Next, I will review and test the Samsung Jet Bot + in detail and will express my own opinion whether this robot vacuum cleaner is worth buying. And its price, by the way, is in the range of $400-500, which puts the robot in the premium segment. Let’s go!

The robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with all the necessary spare consumables. And we can clearly see, it is only suitable for dry cleaning. The remote control is not included.

Design

Now let’s look at how the Samsung Jet Bot+ is designed. The robot vacuum cleaner has rounded shape, made in white and gray colors. Case height is 10 cm.

As mentioned earlier, lidar is responsible for navigation, the lidar cover is spring-loaded, which protects the robot vacuum cleaner from getting stuck under furniture.

The dust container is located under the top cover. Next to them is a QR code for connecting the robot to a Wi-Fi network. The container holds up to 300 ml of dry waste. A curtain is installed below for unloading garbage from the robot into a bag at the station. Filtration system based on HEPA filter. It can be washed with water, same as the dust collector.

Now let’s see how the Samsung Jet Bot + is designed from below. There are 4 fall protection sensors in the front. One side brush, three-beam, fastened by a screw. The charging terminals, as well as the swivel caster, are located at the back of the case.

Let`s see how central brush is arranged:

Central brush and frame
Central brush and frame

Well, firstly, an interesting engineering solution presented on the frame that fixes the turbo brush. It is equipped with metal teeth, which, in theory, should cut through the hair so that it does not wrap around the brush. And, secondly, the brush itself is piled, but has rubber inserts, as well as antistatic silver fibers. In the center of the brush there is a recess for collecting wound hair and wool. At the same time, the design of the brush is completely non-separable, and there is no special tool for cleaning this brush in the kit. I am sure that cleaning it will be quiet challenging! Later I will check how easy is to clean it.

We reviewed design of the robot, now let’s move on and review the self-cleaning station. The section in which the bag is installed is located on top. The lid opens by pressing a mechanical button. The bag is removed by pulling up the holder and removing it from the seat. The quality of the bag is quite standard and does not differ much from those bags that are installed in robot vacuum cleaners from Aliexpress.

The platform, on which the robot drives, has a suction channel for unloading garbage, as well as terminals for charging. On the back of the platform, we see the suction channel, which can be disassembled and cleaned if necessary.

Overall, the build quality of the Samsung Jet Bot+ is high. Apart from the central brush, I have no complaints about this robot vacuum cleaner.

Specifications

The main characteristics of Samsung Jet Bot +, declared by the manufacturer:

  • Li-Ion battery (capacity not specified)
  • Power consumption of the robot: 60W
  • Station power consumption: 1300W

  • Cleaning area: ≈100 sq.m
  • Passage of obstacles: ≈15 mm
  • Dimensions: 350*100 mm
  • Bag capacity in the station: 2.5 l

In general, the characteristics are quite standard. Suction power and battery capacity are not declared by the manufacturer.

Functions

Let’s move on to an overview of Samsung Jet Bot+ features. The robot vacuum cleaner is controlled through the SmartThings branded mobile application. You need to register an account and connect the robot to your smartphone. There is nothing complicated, follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

App control
App control

On the main working panel, the robot vacuum cleaner builds a map of the room and automatically zones it into areas. There are only a few items in the settings section. You can choose the sound mode of the robot, namely: voice guidance, sound effects, or turn off the sound completely. You can also choose the language of voice alerts. The list includes many languages.

In addition, you can adjust the volume of voice alerts, set the time when the robot vacuum cleaner should not disturb you and enable the search for the robot by sound signal.

Let’s return to the main working panel. On the map, you can select the necessary rooms for cleaning, set cleaning zones, or start automatic cleaning of the entire available area.

If you scroll down the screen, additional functions open:

  • Choice of movement pattern. For example, first along the perimeter, and then with a snake, or first with a snake, then along the perimeter, or just a quick cleaning with a snake without an additional bypass of the perimeter.
  • Suction power adjustment. Here you can choose the maximum power mode, normal and intelligent. In the last mentioned mode, Samsung Jet Bot+ automatically boosts power when driving on carpets or detecting a lot of debris on the floor.
  • Re-cleaning. In this case, the robot vacuum cleaner cleans until the battery runs out, after which it returns to the base.

There is also a cleaning log, setting the frequency of self-cleaning and map management. On the map, you can set restricted areas where the robot cleaner must not enter, edit the boundaries of rooms, and name rooms. Apparently, this robot saves only 1 card in memory, I did not find a list of built maps in the application.

Well, the last of the displayed functions is the setting of scheduled cleaning. Here you can choose the time, days of the week, travel mode, suction power, and even selected rooms to clean if necessary.

Additionally, Samsung Jet Bot+ supports management via voice assistants, continues cleaning after recharging at the base, and is also able to work according to a smart scenario in the Samsung Smart Home system. For example, the robot vacuum cleaner itself can change the suction power in certain weather and start automatically if the smartphone that is connected to the robot leaves the room. In general, the functionality of this model is quite interesting and, in principle, there is everything for comfortable control of the robot vacuum cleaner.

Testing

Quick review of Samsung Jet Bot Plus:

And finally, let’s move on to the tests. First, let’s check the Samsung Jet Bot + navigation in the room with obstacles. First, he drove through the perimeter, after which he proceeded to clean the entire available area with a snake. The robot did not get stuck on the clothes dryer, swept around all 4 legs of the chair and around the box, after which it returned to the base. Test passed successfully!

Navigation in the room with obstacles
Navigation in the room with obstacles

As for navigating within the home, I first ran an introductory drive so that the robot quickly built a map of the room and stored it in memory. After that, a full-fledged cleaning cycle was launched.

Navigation within the home

Samsung Jet Bot + cleans room after room, first along the perimeter, and then with a snake. He has a little trouble driving on fluffy carpets. However, after a few attempts, the robot manages to climb onto the carpet and vacuum it. There are no uncleaned areas left, navigation is good!

Suction power

The suction power is amazing. The Samsung Jet Bot+ was able to suck out debris even from a 10mm gap. This is definitely one of the most powerful robot vacuum cleaners on the market!

Dry cleaning

As for the quality of the collection of debris on hard surfaces, I thought that there would be problems with the collection of large debris. For example, shells from nuts or cat litter. Since there is a small gap between the central brush and the suction channel. But no, Samsung Jet Bot+ was able to pick up almost all the debris from the floor without any problems. There was only a little debris left in the corners, from where round robots are not able to sweep. The central brush wrapped a small part of the hair around itself, but all the main debris was collected in the dust collector.

Carpet cleaning

But the quality of carpet cleaning from the same debris is not very high, I would even say below average. All because of the design of the turbo brush. The nap roller is more suitable for cleaning smooth floors. He is not able to clean carpets with high quality and this is important to consider.

Cleaning the turbo brush

After two previous tests, I decided to demonstrate the quality of the turbo brush cleaning, because the manufacturer focuses on it, highlighting the advantage of the robot.

Central brush coiled hair
Central brush coiled hair

So, in my opinion, this is one of the most inconvenient designs in terms of maintenance. Yes, the hair does fall into the recess in the center. But how to get them out of there, so that it is convenient, I do not understand. A significant part of the hair was also wound on the sides, and since the caps are non-removable, they simply cannot be removed from the brush. I had to use nail scissors for this, which is not very convenient.

Self-cleaning quality

As for the quality of self-cleaning, I have no comments on the robot vacuum cleaner. I ran the test several times. First, I left the garbage in the dust collector after the tests and additionally drove the robot around the room with a small amount of scattered garbage so that the dust collector clogged more. So, even from the first time, the station unloaded almost all the garbage. After the second self-cleaning, even less debris remains in the container.

After several launches around the house, I also decided to check the effectiveness of the station once again. This time the dust container was much more clogged, especially with wool. So, the minimum amount of garbage left after self-cleaning. In the video review, you can clearly see the quality of self-cleaning. Test passed successfully!

Passage of obstacles

The passage ability of the Samsung Jet Bot+ is not very good. He can move 15 mm plinth, but he managed to overcome 20 mm only 1 time out of many attempts. Well, it even hardly drives on the carpet, it was demonstrated earlier.

Drive through dark surfaces

The next note is that Samsung Jet Bot + is afraid of dark surfaces, recognizing them as height differences. This test failed.

Noise level

Well, as for the noise level, in standard mode it is in the range of 62-64 dB, and at maximum power it reaches 67 dB. Given the high suction power, the noise level is low.

Summing up

The Samsung Jet Bot+ was reviewed and tested. According to our rating system, he managed to score 66 out of 100 points. Considering that this robot vacuum cleaner is only for dry cleaning, and it could not get an additional 10 points for how this function could be implemented, the result is very good. For comparison, the closest analogues of robot vacuum cleaners for dry cleaning – iCLEBO O5 was able to score 65 points, and iRobot Roomba i7+ only 59 points. So, Samsung wins this battle. And if it weren’t for the comments that were discovered during testing and influenced the result, even without wet cleaning, he would be able to enter the TOP 10 robot vacuum cleaners that passed ROBOTOBZOR test.

I will share my own opinion about this robot. Liked the following:

  1. Good navigation.
  2. High suction power.
  3. Efficient self-cleaning station.
  4. High-quality cleaning on hard surfaces.
  5. High build quality.
  6. Complete set of delivery.
  7. Convenient application.
  8. Full warranty and service support from the manufacturer.
  9. Management through Yandex.Alisa and integration into the Smart Home system.
  10. Low noise level.

As for the shortcomings, the main ones are:

  1. Afraid of black floor coverings.
  2. Not very good passage of obstacles.
  3. The central brush is difficult to clean from wound hair.
  4. Doesn’t clean carpets very well.
  5. Stores only 1 card in memory.

Some shortcomings are more of a note and may be minor for many. Overall, the robot vacuum is definitely worth considering and I would recommend it for vacuuming mainly on hard floors. He proved to be excellent and the design of the brush, in principle, is designed to collect debris on laminate, tile and other smooth surfaces.

The functionality of the robot is complete and the trust in the brand is very high. Therefore, those who choose a reliable robot vacuum cleaner only for dry cleaning, while having good navigation and self-cleaning function, in my opinion Samsung Jet Bot + is a very best option! Moreover, the price is not too high and at the level of self-cleaning robotic vacuum cleaners of the Xiaomi family and other brands.

That’s all, if you have any questions, ask them in the comments below. Happy tech shopping, bye!
