Hello everyone! Welcome to the Robotobzor! Today we will review an interesting robot vacuum cleaner called Xiaomi Mijia Robot Vacuum-Mop Tangle-free Brush. This is the Chinese version of the robot. In the global version, it is sold under the name Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum S10T. The device attracts attention with two declared parameters: suction power up to 8000 Pa and an implemented system of protection against winding hair on a turbo brush. So, we can assume that this robot vacuum cleaner is suitable for cleaning carpets, as well as collecting wool and hair. And in theory, the maintenance of the robot should be minimal. In addition, Mijia Tangle-free Brush is equipped with lidar and wet cleaning function. This looks like a real deal with an average cost of about $ 350-400. Next, we will review this robot vacuum cleaner in detail, after which I will express my own opinion whether it is worth buying. Let’s go!
Equipment
The package includes:
- Wet cleaning nozzle with attached mopping pad.
- Charging base.
- Power adapter with an adapter for a euro socket.
- Instruction manual in Chinese.
- Robot cleaning tool.
- A present from the manufacturer or the store, it is not clear. But very cute.
The package is minimal, which is typical of Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaners.
Design
Let`s see how Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum S10T is designed. It is made in black. The top cover is glossy, sooo easily soiled. The body shape is round. The height of the robot is about 103 mm, which is also not good.
A wall sensor and a fairly large object detection sensor are installed on the mechanical bumper. The promotional material doesn’t mention anything about its abilities, but I’ll still check in the tests how it works, given the size.
On top of the case there are 2 mechanical control buttons. Lidar is responsible for navigation. It is equipped with a spring-loaded cover to prevent the robot from getting stuck under furniture.
The dust collector with capacity of 450 ml is located on the back side. It is not standard. The manufacturer is allowed to wash the container and filter with water. The HEPA filter is hidden under the cover. A mesh is installed in the filter itself, so that the filtration system is double.
From below, a nozzle for mopping is installed on the robot. The reservoir holds up to 250 ml of water. The mopping pad is bald on the sides, this is another small remark about the robot. Inside the tank there is a pump for electronic water supply adjustment.
There are 6 fall protection sensors on the bottom of the robot. The side brush is one, three-beam, fastened with a screw. The central brush block is floating, this is a plus. The turbo brush is shifted to the right wheel.
And now let’s talk about the turbo brush itself, which is the main highlight of this robot vacuum cleaner. It is equipped with bristle inserts, between which there are two knives for the entire length of the brush. These knives are hidden inside the shaft, so the user will not cut their hands when cleaning the brush.
This is a plus. In addition, combs are provided inside the suction channel for brushing the hair on the brush. In the complex, this engineering solution allows you to cut through the hair wound on the brush automatically, during the rotation of the central brush. The principle is that the hair on the brush is combed, wound on the shaft and cut with knives. Let’s check how everything works in reality in tests.
We reviewed the design of the robot. Let`s move on!
Specifications
Key Features of Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum S10T, declared by the manufacturer:
- Battery: Li-Ion 5200 mAh
- Suction power: up to 8000 Pa
- Cleaning area up to 180 sq.m.
- Battery life: up to 180 min
- Dust container: 450 ml
- Water tank: 250 ml
- Passage of obstacles: up to 20 mm
- Dimensions: 345*102.3mm
Of the characteristics, I am personally interested only in the declared suction power, which will be tested on the stand. Rest of the characteristics are quite standard, as for a lidar robot vacuum cleaner.
Functionality
Let’s move on to an overview of the functions of the robot. Since the version is for the Chinese market, it is controlled only when you select the China region in the branded Mi Home application. So, the robot vacuum cleaner itself speaks Chinese or English, and the application interface is in English. This is important to consider. And it is also important to consider that in the best traditions of the Chinese Mi Home, the application freezes, which causes some inconvenience.
The main features of Xiaomi Mijia Robot Tangle-free Brush (Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum S10T):
- Saving multiple cleaning maps in memory.
- Automatic zoning of the premises into rooms.
- Choice of rooms and areas for cleaning.
- Installation of virtual walls and restricted areas.
- Separate restricted areas for wet cleaning.
- Continue cleaning after charging at the base.
- Adjustment of power and level of water supply.
- Manual control.
- Scheduled cleaning.
- Do not disturb mode.
- Cleaning log.
- Tracking of consumables level.
As you can see, the functionality is not so diverse. There is not at least a function of automatic increase in power on carpets or a Y-shaped trajectory of movement.
Testing
Navigation
Let’s move on to the tests. First of all, let’s check the navigation of the robot vacuum cleaner in the room with obstacles. After leaving the base, the robot passes the room along the perimeter, after which it cleans it with a snake. It didn’t get stuck in the dryer. Separately swept around the dryer and chair legs. This test passed successfully!
As for the navigation within the house, the robot passes room by room, first along the perimeter, then as a snake. The cleaning speed is high, there are no uncleaned areas left. Navigation is good for this model!
Immediately I decided to check the sensor on the bumper. Maybe it is able to identify objects on the floor. So the robot hits the floor scales with its bumper, ran into an imitation of a pet surprise, chewed up the charger wire and sock. In general, despite the increased size of the sensor, the robot did not become more accurate.
Suction power
Now let’s check the suction power of the robot, because as much as 8000 Pa is declared. In reality, the robot vacuum cleaner was able to suck out debris only from a 4 mm deep slot, and even then, not a lot. So, the suction power is indeed slightly increased in this model, but not as much as declared by the manufacturer.
Anti-tangle brush system
Let’s check the second feature of the robot – the system of protection against winding hair on the central brush. I scattered hair and wool on the floor, after which I started a robot. Let’s have a look at the condition of the brush. And it is worth noting that it is really almost clean. But how much hair and wool is collected in the dust collector. The effectiveness of the system has been proven! Moreover, the longer the robot vacuum rides, the cleaner the brush will be, because it cleans itself as it rotates. In the same condition, I started the robot to clean the rest of the rooms, after which I checked the central brush again. Yes, it became even more clean. This new feature definitely deserves attention and I hope in the future, other robots will be equipped with similar brushes!
Dry cleaning
The quality of dry cleaning on the laminate is good. The robot vacuum cleaner was able to remove all debris from the floor, including wool and hair. It even managed to completely sweep out the dust in the corners! True, this was possible mostly due to the fact that when turning from a corner, dust is blown out by air exiting through the main motor vents. But in fact, it’s better than nothing😊 The minimum amount of hair is wrapped around the turbo brush, however, most of the debris is collected in the dust collector. Test passed successfully!
Carpet cleaning
The robot also copes with carpet cleaning thanks to increased power, a floating brush block and its great execution. This test also passed!
Mopping
But the Xiaomi Mijia Robot Tangle-free Brush does not cop very well with rubbing off the dirt. The water supply is not too plentiful even at the maximum level, and the mopping pad is bald on the sides. As a result, the robot did not remove all the dirt. Mostly, this model is suitable for dry cleaning. Wet cleaning is more like a bonus to improve the quality of garbage collection. The device is able to simultaneously vacuum and wipe the floor, collecting dust and small debris.
Mopping and carpets
Xiaomi Mijia Robot Tangle-free Brush does not detect carpets, so, in the wet cleaning mode, it is not able to automatically avoid them. I recommend that you protect your carpets by setting up wet cleaning restricted areas where they are located.
Passage of obstacles
Passage of obstacles is good. The robot vacuum cleaner moves over 2 cm plinth without any problems, even with the water tank installed. This is a plus.
Passage of dark surfaces
But Xiaomi Mijia Robot Tangle-free Brush is afraid of dark surfaces, like most other robot vacuum cleaners of the Xiaomi family. This is important to consider.
Noise level
And finally, we measure the noise level of the robot in different modes. At minimum power, it is in the range of 58-60 dB. At medium power it reaches 62 dB. In boost mode, the noise level reaches 65 dB, and in Turbo mode the peak value was 67.4 dB. The noise level of this model is standard.
Personal opinion
Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum S10T (Xiaomi Mijia Robot Vacuum-Mop Tangle-free Brush) was reviewed and tested in detail. According to our evaluation system, it managed to score 106 points. The result is not bad considering the price. However, it is not as high as we would like, because of some comments.
Overall rating of robot vacuum cleaners: https://robotobzor.com/ratings/general-rating-of-robot-vacuum-cleaners.html.
I will share my personal opinion about the tested device. What I liked:
- Effective system for cleaning the turbo brush from hair and wool.
- Increased suction power.
- Good quality of the dry cleaning.
- Sweeps debris in the corners better than many analogues.
- Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
- Good passage ability.
There is nothing more to highlight if to be objective and do not try to find advantages like having a lidar or virtual walls. For the cost $350-400, it should be in any case.
As for the shortcomings, they are also few. Namely:
- Wet cleaning is not very effective.
- The robot vacuum cleaner is afraid of dark surgaces.
- No advanced features
- Easily soiled case.
As a result, I can say that this robot vacuum cleaner will be a good option for collecting wool and hair. I think it can enter the top five for these purposes. Well, in general, for dry cleaning it is more rational. If the price was up to $ 300, the robot would look much more advantageous comparing to its analogues. And so, it has pros and cons, which are worth thinking about. I can definitely say again that the anti-winding system is effective. And for whom this is one of the main criteria when choosing a robot vacuum cleaner, definitely pay attention to Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum S10T. But don’t count on suction power, when considering this model. It is not much higher than in analogues and other robots of the Xiaomi line.
On this note, I would like to end the review. If you have any questions, ask them in the comments below. Happy tech shopping. Bye!
