Xiaomi Mijia M30S OMNI Infinite: The BEST Xiaomi robot vacuum in 2024

Xiaomi Mijia M30S OMNI Infinite Xiaomi

Hey guys, welcome to RobotObzor! Today we got something new for us to review, the new Xiaomi Mijia M30S OMNI Infinite robot vacuum cleaner, model number D103CN. This is a build on from the previous M30, but Xiaomi installed some upgrades: the wipe can get up close to the baseboard, and they added a bladed turbobrush to help clean itself from coiled hair and fur. Plus they increased the suction power to 7300 Pa. You can find this robot for around $550-600 at the time of the review. Now, let’s test this robot out, after which I’ll highlight the pros and cons, and let you know what I think about it. Let’s get into it!

Kit

The robot came in this branded box:

Appearance

Now let’s take a look at the robot itself. It’s white and round, a Xiaomi staple, standing 97 mm ( 3.32 In.)off the floor.

On the right side of the bumper you will find a wall sensor. In the center there is a system of sensors to detect and carefully avoid obstacles in the path of the robot.

The camera doesn’t broadcast video to your phone unfortunately, so you won’t be able to remotely look after your house.

The Lidar is responsible for navigation. It’s covered by a spring-loaded top to help it from getting stuck under furniture. There’s two buttons next to the lidar.

The dirt container is under the top cover. The lid for shaking out dirt was removed. The filtration system relies solely on the HEPA-filter. The water tank is hidden inside the robot. Water is pumped into the tank automatically at the station and fed to the wipes while cleaning.

There are 4 anti-fall sensors at the bottom of the robot. There is no carpet sensor, and there is one three beamed side brush that is very easy to take off.

The center brush is floating. Right out of the box, the robot has a regular bristle-blade turbo brush that can be taken off on both sides. But it comes with a new bladed brush just like Dreame offers, to help it cut up wound hair and fur, as an alternative to cutting hair at the station, like the Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro.

This is the brush we’re going to use. Behind the turbo brush are the familiar round wipe holders. The left wipe very conveniently comes out to the edge in order to precisely clean the floor close to the baseboard.

I should add that the wipe not only presses against the baseboard when cleaning, but also drives into the corner, which gets the corners better.

The wipes are also automatically lifted 7mm (0.276 In.) when driving onto carpets, while vacuuming and when returning to the station.

As for the station, Xiaomi Mijia M30S self-cleans itself of dirt, automatically refills the robot’s tank with water, washes the wipes with hot water, and dries the wipes with warm air after its done cleaning.

The robot’s driveway and the tray where the wipes are washed are removable, pretty convenient.

The water tanks are under the top lid. They got bigger, now 4 liters (1.75 G.) each. We can see behind the tank plugs, through which you can connect the module to connect to the sewer and water supply.

There is no detergent compartment in the station, so you’ll have to add it to the water by hand. But the utilities expansion kit comes with a 900 ml (30 Oz.) detergent container, which will be automatically mixed with the water when washing wipes. This is a huge advantage!

Overall, in my opinion, the new Xiaomi Mijia M30S is better design wise than Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro, for the wall sensor, the cloth going up to the baseboard, and the coolest bladed turbo brush. The older model has its own perks, but these robots have little in common. In fact, according to one of my subscribers, they are even made in different factories: M30 Pro in an ijai factory and M30S in a Dreame factory, which is clearly noticeable. The new M30S has a turbo brush, dust collector, HEPA-filter and other components identical to the Dreame robots.

The most important thing here is the claimed power increase, which I’ll have to verify later.

Functions

As for the functions, this robot was designed for the Chinese market, and respectively, connects to the Mi Home app through the Chinese region. Part of the interface is in English, which isn’t the best. The app runs a bit slow due to the Chinese servers, but still at a tolerable pace.

Testing

Video review:

And finally let’s get to testing. First of all, let’s check the navigation of Xiaomi Mijia M30S in a room with obstacles. The robot first goes around the perimeter of the room, then cleans the entire available area with a snake pattern. It went over the drying rack’s legs without a problem. It separately went around the box and chair legs, then returned to the station. Test passed!

As for the rest of the house, the robot cleaned room by room first around the perimeter, then in a snake pattern. I found that every 15 square meters (49 Ft.) it returns to the station and cleans itself, then picks back up from where it previously finished. In the end, the apartment was cleaned with two trips to the station. Just like in the last model, the navigation is superb, leaving the area spotless.

Object detection

As for the object detection system, in good lighting, the robot identified and carefully avoided 4 out of the 6 objects on the floor. It ran over the fake pet poo and chewed up the charger.

In total darkness, the robot fell for 3 traps: the fake pet poo, a wire, and a sock.

So no perfect, needs work, but its better than no system at all. Note that Xiaomi Mijia M30S doesn’t recognize, but only detects objects on the floor. While Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro is equipped with exactly the same system.

Suction power

The suction power is excellent. It sucked dirt rom a 10 mm (0.39 In.) crack, which is amazing. In comparison, the previously released Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro could only get to 2mm (0.079 In.).

Vacuuming

It vacuums well on hard floors, leaving a bit in the corners due to its round shape. Note that the central brush barely got any hair on it, and wouldn’t have at all if the conditions were less dramatic.

In everyday conditions it doesn’t get any hair on it. I’ve checked the condition of the brush several times after a full cleaning cycle, and it’s pretty much all clean. So, if you are choosing a robot vacuum cleaner to pick up wool and hair, make sure to check out the Xiaomi Mijia M30S.

Carpet cleaning

The same dirt was scattered on a low carpet. And the robot thoroughly cleaned the carpeting.

Xiaomi Mijia M30S OMNI Infinite: Carpet cleaning
Carpet cleaning

But there are problems with cleaning medium height carpets. Even with the object detection system turned off, the robot sees the carpet as an obstacle, which causes it to drive in circles and bypass sections of the carpet. Where it does go it leaves clean, but that doesn’t really count.

Mopping and carpets

As for mopping with carpets, here’s the thing. Since the robot doesn’t have a carpet detection sensor, it can’t automatically detect carpets. You need to set them on the map yourself. After that, you are offered to choose one of two modes. It can gently drive around carpets or it can clean carpets, automatically picking up wipes when driving onto carpeted areas. This is the best option.

Self-cleaning

Immediately after the “dirty tests” I checked how well the robot cleans itself. Before returning to the station, the container is full of dirt. After self-cleaning the container is completely cleaned, the result is excellent.

Mopping

With a few runs back to the station this robot does well scrubbing the floor. This is the main advantage of such robots. Dirt wont be rubbed into the floor the whole cycle. This helps clean, not just wipe.

Mopping

Note that there’s no blind spot at the walls and furniture, thanks to the extendable wipe.

Scrubbing difficult stains

As for scrubbing harder stains, the robot scrubbed even dried coffee and sauce stains. Not the first time around, the twelfth to be exact, but it did it. Many can’t even do that.

Cloth washing quality

After all of these tests, let’s see how well the station washes our wipes. Even after difficult tests, the cloths look much better after washing at the station. With everyday use, this result is perfect.

The station itself is very easy to clean from dirt. There is a function of self-cleaning, which is started by a button on the station, but it is better to periodically remove the tray and trap and rinse in the sink.

Obstacle clearance

2 cm (0.79 In.) baseboards gave it no problem, with the wipes lifted. This is awesome!

Passing dark surfaces

Dark areas are no problem either, the robot freely going over them.

Volume

As for the volume, it’s between 54-72 dB, which is completely justified by the suction power.

Pros and cons

Xiaomi Mijia M30S robot vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. Our evaluation system gave it 183 points, beating the previous flagship Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro by 13 points. The result is good, but not enough for the Top-10, and I’ll show why. Now I’ll highlight the pros and cons of the robot and then share my opinion about it.

I liked the following:

  1. The most important – The optimal price considering its functionality.
  2. The turbo brush has built-in blades and doesn’t get tangled in hair and fur. No need to clean it manually, as it self-cleans the brush.
  3. Very high suction power, both in numbers and in real tests.
  4. Able to scrub the area close to the baseboard and tighter in the corners, thanks to the retractable wipe holder.
  5. All-in-One station where the robot self-cleans the dirt bag, washes the wipes with hot water, dries them with warm air, and even automatically adds the detergent when a utility module is installed to connect to the sewer and water supply. And the station does everything very effectively.
  6. Easy maintenance of the robot and the station.
  7. High-quality vacuuming and mopping on hard surfaces and carpets alike.
  8. Robot can scrub even difficult stains.
  9. Touches objects gentler thanks to the object detection system.
  10. Lifts wipes on carpets, while vacuuming, and when going back to the station.
  11. Lots of functions in the app.
  12. Good off-road.
  13. Large tanks in the station.
  14. Not afraid of dark areas

As for what could be improved:

  1. The robot was designed for the Chinese market. Plus there is no full service and warranty support from the manufacturers.
  2. The object detection system needs work.
  3. There are problems with medium carpets, the robot sees them as an obstacle.
  4. The vacuum can’t go deep into corners.
  5. No carpet sensor, causing you to have to manually set carpeted areas on the map.
  6. No auto detergent dispenser as a standard feature of the station.

Overall, this is the best Xiaomi has to offer currently. Even if you compare it to the Pro-version, the M30S is more powerful, scrubs better along the baseboard and is still assembled at Dreame’s facilities, so it should be more reliable than its predecessors. Oh, and the bladed brushes are more durable than the ones pre installed. Yes the detection system is a tad basic, but it depends on what you want in a robot vacuum.

On this note, I’s like to finish the review. If you have any questions, ask them in the comments down below. Have fun shopping, Bye!
