Dreame Bot W10: robot vacuum with spinning mop and self-cleaning mopping station

Dreame Bot W10 Dreame

Hi, everyone! Welcome to Robotobzor channel! In this review we will test the long-awaited self-cleaning robot vacuum cleaner from the Dreame factory, which is a sub-brand of Xiaomi. The robot called Dreame Bot W10. This device, in addition to the side and central brush, is equipped with two rotating platforms with round mopping pads. They not only wipe dirt from the floor better, but are also able to automatically self-clean and wet at a special station. This station has two separate tanks: for clean and dirty water. During cleaning, Dreame Bot W10 makes transitional arrivals at the station to rinse the mopping pads and continue cleaning with clean, richly moistened ones. This solution is not unique, dozens of robot vacuum cleaners with a self-cleaning station have already appeared on the market. But the Dreame Bot W10 definitely has its advantages. Next, I will review and test the Dreame Bot W10 in detail. After that I will express my opinion whether this robot vacuum cleaner is worth buying. Its cost is in the range $800-$1,000. The price depends on the availability of discounts during the sales season and the delivery option. By the way, the seller on Aliexpress, where the robot was ordered, provided a promotional code for my followers to get a discount. I posted it at the end of the review along with a link. Let’s go!

Box

In the box, in addition to the robot itself and the station, there is:

  1. Side brush to be installed on the robot.
  2. Two removable mops, which also come in one set.
  3. Power adapter to connect the station to the network.
  4. Robot cleaning tool.
  5. And an instruction manual translated into several languages.

The set is minimal, which is sad, considering such a high price.

Design

Let`s have a look at how the Dreame Bot W10 is designed. Let’s start the review with the robot vacuum cleaner itself. The body shape is closer to D-shaped, but with rounded corners. There are charging terminals on the back that connect the robot to the base.

Dreame Bot W10, view from above
View from above

On the right side there is a wall sensor, in the center on the mechanical bumper there is a sensor for detecting obstacles in the path of the robot. Unfortunately, there is no object recognition system like the Dreame Z10 Pro and L10 Pro. Although here it would be useful, as the robot is more suitable for hard surfaces, where the implemented 3D sensor behaves more correctly.

Side view

The body height is about 10.5 cm. This is 1cm higher than most conventional lidar robots, due to the updated cleaning module.

On the control panel we see three mechanical control buttons: start / pause, forced return to the base for charging and local cleaning mode. Lidar is responsible for navigation. It is equipped with a spring-loaded cover that prevents it from getting stuck under furniture.

The dust container is located under the top cover. A protective shutter is installed inside to prevent accidental spillage of litter when removing the container. The container itself holds up to 450 ml of dry waste. Filtration system based on mesh and HEPA filter.

Dustbin

Let’s see how the Dreame Bot W10 is designed from the bottom. There are 6 fall protection sensors along the perimeter. An ultrasonic sensor for detecting carpets is located in front near the swivel roller.

Side brush one: five-beam, quick to be removed. Dreame factory engineers made the central brush elongated. It is still bristly petal. On both sides, it is disassembled for cleaning from wound hair and wool. The brush block is floating, which allows it to better cuddle up to different floor coverings.

Central brush

Behind the block with a turbo brush, we see seats for installing platforms with mopping pads. They are equipped with magnets, which makes attaching mopping pads as simple and convenient as possible.

Mopping pads

Another roller is installed behind the cleaning module. Of course, he is very needed here. Unfortunately, the wipes do not go beyond the edges of the case, so it is obvious that the robot will not be able to wash the floor close to the plinth or furniture. A narrow unwashed strip will obviously remain.

The build quality of Dreame Bot W10 is high. All detachable elements even have QR codes pasted on them to quickly find spare parts. The only thing that was disappointing was the dust collector with low capacity, given that self-cleaning of litter is not provided. And the fact that the mopping pads do not go beyond the edges of the case.

Let`s check how the napkins mopping station is arranged. It is quite large. Size 375*400*430 mm. Under the top cover there are two 4-liter tanks: for clean and dirty water. In the tank for dirty water we see a float, when triggered, a notification will appear at the station that you need to drain the dirty water from the tank. The clean water tank has a tube that supplies water to the mopping pads rinsing platform. From above we see a sealed cover, thanks to which it is not necessary to remove the tank from the seat. You can simply pour clean water through the hole.

On top of the case there is a display with two touch buttons: start/stop the cleaning process and forced return to the station. The display shows the battery charge and service messages.

Let’s take a look at how the platform for rinsing mopping pads inside the station is arranged. Under the parking lot of the cleaning module, we see two ridges. Mopping pads during self-cleaning rotate and rinse under running water, after which the dirty water is sucked into the appropriate tank. On the sides there are rollers that help the robot park, as well as latches. And here I want to express big Thanks to the engineers of the Draeme factory!

Platform for rinsing napkins

They makde the platform removable so that they could periodically wash it from accumulated litter and dirt. For example, in Xiaomi Mijia Self-Cleaning Sweeping Mopping Robot MJSTP, the platform is not removable and it is extremely inconvenient to maintain it!

Design of the Dreame Bot W10 was reviewed. Personally, I’m very happy with its design so far. Let`s go ahead!

Specifications

The main characteristics of Dreame Bot W10, declared by the manufacturer, are displayed on the screen:

  • Battery Li-Ion 6400 mAh.
  • Suction power up to 4000 Pa.
  • Operating time >120 min.
  • Cleaning area up to 300 sq.m.
  • Capacity of a dust collector is 450 ml.
  • Capacity of tanks for dirty and clean water (in the station): 4 l + 4 l.
  • Passage of obstacles up to 20 mm.
  • Robot dimensions: 334*314*105.5 mm.
  • Station dimensions: 375*400*430 mm.

This robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with a high-capacity battery, which is quite reasonable, because in addition to movement and suction, rotating wipes also consume energy. The manufacturer did not indicate the operating time, but in my case, at medium power mode, robot used 20% of the battery in 30 minutes. Accordingly, it can be predicted that it is able to work more than 2 hours on a single battery charge. The suction power is on the level with other new products in the Dreame Bot line, namely the D9 Max, L10 Pro and Z10 Pro models that I previously reviewed. I will definitely check the power at the stand during the tests.

Functionality

Let’s move on to the review of Dreame Bot W10 features. A global version of the robot vacuum cleaner came to me for review. There were no connection problems. At the first start, a notification appeared about the need to update the firmware, which I did.

Dreame Bot W10 app control
App control

On the main working panel, it builds a map of the area and automatically zones it into rooms. Three main modes of operation are displayed under the map. In room mode, you can select the desired rooms for cleaning and the order in which they are cleaned. In automatic mode, the robot vacuum cleaner cleans the entire available area with a snake moves. In the “zone” mode, you can select the cleaning zones on the map with a rectangle. The number of passes by the robot vacuum cleaner of a room, zone or the entire area cannot be selected, unfortunately. Although in tests within the same room, robot cleaned it in two passes crosswise. Perhaps in the next software update it will be possible to select the number of passes.

Cleaning modes
Cleaning modes

Dreame Bot W10 supports virtual walls, No-Go zones, and separate No-Mop zones for wet cleaning mode. On right of the map, you can select one of the cleaning modes: dry and wet, wet only or dry only. The last mode is activated when removing wipes from the robot. You can also adjust the suction power and the degree of wetting of the wipes at the station, which is very convenient.

In the station settings, you can choose the frequency of rinsing mopping pads during the cleaning process. Either by area, namely every 5.10 or 15 sq.m., or by zone. In this case, the robot will rinse the mopping pads before each new cleaning area. Here you can forcibly turn on the function of rinsing mopping pads or drying them at the station.

Cleaning Parameters
Cleaning Parameters

In the map management section, you can select the desired cleaning map, as well as edit the boundaries of the rooms and give them a name. Yes, Dreame Bot W10 saves several unique maps in memory.

Map management
Map management

Well, the settings section contains the main functions of the robot vacuum cleaner, I will list them in order. To begin with, it is proposed to adjust the volume of voice alerts and select the desired language.

Then you can turn on / off sending notifications to your smartphone, the carpet recognition function, automatic increase in suction power when driving on carpets, child protection (so that they cannot start the robot themselves from the button on the body), resuming cleaning after recharging at the base, as well as do not disturb mode at the specified time.

Settings and functions
Settings and functions

When setting up scheduled cleaning, you can select the desired rooms for cleaning, times and days of the week. Unfortunately, there is no choice of cleaning mode, as well as individual cleaning settings for each room.

Additionally, in the settings section, you can view the cleaning log and the status of consumables, as well as enable manual control of the robot and its search by sound signal. If necessary, you can also change the name of the robot, share control with other family members and update the firmware version.

These are all the functions of Dreame Bot W10. In principle, the main possibilities for automatic maintenance of cleanliness in the house are there. What is missing, I mentioned already.

Testing

You can watch a detailed video review and test of Dreame Bot W10 in the video below:

The navigation test within the obstacle room was passed successfully. Dreame Bot W10 got stuck on the legs of the dryer, but was able to get out of the trap on its own, continuing the cleaning cycle. It was also able to wrap around the legs of the chair and the box before returning to the base to recharge.

Navigation in a room with obstacles
Navigation in a room with obstacles

Navigation within the home was tested in dry cleaning mode so that the robot could overcome carpets and drive through the entire available area. So the navigation of the Dreame Bot W10 is good. It cleans room after room, first along the perimeter, then with a snake moves. There are no uncleaned areas left. This test also passed!

Suction power

In terms of suction power, the Dreame Bot W10 was able to suck up litter from 2mm and 4mm deep slots. At the same time, 4000 Pa is declared, just like the Dreame Bot Z10 and L10 Pro, which were able to suck out litter from the 8 and 10 mm marks. I think it’s an elongated brush, because of which power is lost. But in any case, the suction power is above average and will be more than enough for hard floors, and for cleaning carpets too.

Dry cleaning

The quality of garbage collection on the laminate is very high. The robot was able to collect garbage of various structures, including wool and hair. In addition, it sweeps well in the corners. Not perfect, but much better than round robot vacuum cleaners.

Dry cleaning

If the beams of the side brush were a little longer, I think the corner would be swept out completely.

Sweeps out the corner

A small part of the hair is wrapped around the central brush, but in any case, the most of the litter is collected in the dust collector. Test passed successfully!

Carpet cleaning

The quality of carpet cleaning is also at a high level. The robot was able to collect all the garbage, no comments about it. Only one remark – the side brush is not powerful and the rays are bent on the pile. Still, it is clear that this robot vacuum cleaner is more designed for cleaning on hard surfaces, although it is able to clean carpets.

Mopping (wiping off dirt)

The quality of wiping off a little dried dirt is at an average level. Only from the third time, with two rinses of mopping pads on the base, the robot was able to clean the stand. But on the sides there was an unwashed zone, which was mentioned at the beginning of the review.

Mopping (wiping off dirt)
Mopping (wiping off dirt)

But in any case, the main thing is that the robot does not smear all the collected dirt on the floor, but gradually removes it and finally wipes the floor with a clean mopping pads. This is a clear advantage over conventional wet and dry robot vacuum cleaners.

Mopping (rubbing off difficult dirt)

The Dreame Bot W10 has serious problems with wiping off difficult dirt, for example, dried stains from coffee and sauce. Robot is still able to wipe off coffee with several attempts, but it can’t do the same with the sauce at all.

Rubbing off difficult dirt

This indicates that the pressure of the wipes on the floor is not very strong. For example, the same Hobot Legee 7 wipes stains much better if we are talking about the effectiveness of the cleaning module.

Mopping and carpets

As for the simultaneous dry and wet cleaning in the presence of carpets in the house, here is the situation. There is a carpet detection mode in the settings. If it is turned on, the robot in wet mode will bypass carpets and clean only on hard surfaces.

The robot vacuum cleaner goes around the carpet

But if for some reason you need to drive the robot onto a carpet with mopping pads installed, you can do this by disabling carpet detection. Then Dreame Bot W10 will clean them not only with brushes, but also with wet wipes, which is an extremely controversial decision.

The robot vacuum cleaner drove on the carpet

And again, he will only be able to drive on low carpets. On high-pile carpets, the platform with a mopping pads can come unfastened, and the robot will report error, as in my case.

Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning

On the other hand, a big plus of the Dreame Bot W10 is that it can simultaneously vacuum and mop the floor while rinsing mopping pads during the cleaning cycle so that the cleaning quality remains good. Here, have a look at the original condition of the floor and the result. The floor is almost perfectly clean, there is very little litter left, but this is not comparable to what it was.

To improve the quality of cleaning, I recommend dividing large rooms into several zones, then the robot will perform several rinses of the mopping pads and the zone itself can be even less than 5 sq.m. as in standard settings.

The quality of self-cleaning

I will demonstrate how effectively the Dreame Bot W10 station rinses mopping pads. Here is the condition of the mopping pads after a difficult test with a lot of litter on the floor. We see that after rinsing, they became really clean, although the bottom of the robot still needs manual cleaning, as well as a removable platform. Luckily, it can be easily removed for periodic washing!

But if we are talking about living conditions and daily wet cleaning, then the station does its job efficiently. To confirm, I even decided to remove the wipes and rinse them in clean water. And you see that they are almost perfectly clean. In my opinion, the station is very effective!

Passage of obstacles

Passability of obstacles is quiet good. Even with the Dreame Bot W10 wipes installed, it was able to overcome the 2 cm step. This is a big plus for the robot! But not to forget that sometimes the mopping pads can still be detached in the process of overcoming obstacles, for example, carpets with high pile.

Drive through dark surfaces

Dreame Bot W10 is not afraid of dark surfaces, unlike previous model from the line. This is a plus!

Noise level

In the “Quiet” mode, the noise level is in the range of 58-60 dB. In standard mode, it reaches 62 dB. In the intensive cleaning mode, the noise level rises to 64 dB, and at maximum power the peak value was 68.1 dB. I can say that the noise level is low, given the increased suction power and the presence of two rotating wipes.

Some observation

And finally, I will demonstrate a few observations that were discovered during the operation and testing of the Dreame Bot W10. First – as already mentioned, it does not wash along the plinth enough. Let me demonstrate it again.

Robot does not wash along the plinth enough
Robot does not wash along the plinth enough

It takes about 2 minutes to fully rinse the wipes. At the same time, drying of mopping pads is provided, and this time is not one or two hours. But at night I launched it for the last time, and in the morning I checked and the mopping pads were dry. The noise level during drying is minimal, at the level of a humidifier, or even less. Robot obviously won’t bother you.

One rinse of mopping pads takes up to 200 ml of water. I will then compare this value with similar models with a mopping pads rinsing station that I will have in my review.

And finally, after leaving the Dreame Bot W10 station, it takes a long time to determine its location. This problem is also observed in the Z10 Pro model with a self-cleaning station. Not that it somehow affected the efficiency of cleaning, I just saw a similar phenomenon only in Dreame robots. The rest are positioned faster.

Summing up

Dreame Bot W10 has been reviewed and tested in detail. According to our rating system, robot managed to score 79 out of 100 points and at the time of writing the review he took 4th place in the ranking of robot vacuum cleaners that passed the Robotobzor test.

The overall rating of robot vacuum cleaners that have passed the Robotobzor test: https://robotobzor.com/ratings/general-rating-of-robot-vacuum-cleaners.html.

Before this device came to me for review, I honestly thought that it would be able to score more points, but the comments that will be listed below affected the rating. But about everything in order. I liked the following:

  1. The function of rinsing mopping pads at the station. Moreover, the station very effectively copes with its main task.
  2. You can flexibly adjust the frequency of rinsing mopping pads. For example, the same Mijia Self-Cleaning Sweeping Mopping Robot MJSTP is programmed to rinse mopping pads strictly every 10 sq.m. meters of cleaning, which is not very practical and convenient.
  3. Ease of operation of the station. Here we are talking about a removable platform for washing mopping pads.
  4. Good navigation.
  5. High-quality dry and wet cleaning. The Dreame Bot W10 has an effective cleaning module and, moreover, the robot sweeps better in corners.
  6. Increased suction power.
  7. Good passability of obstacles.
  8. Global version is provided. Accordingly, voice messages in several languages are supported and there is a translation of the instructions.
  9. High build quality.
  10. The robot vacuum cleaner is not afraid of dark surfaces.

As for the disadvantages, there are also a lot of them. I didn’t like the following:

  1. Does not remove difficult dirt.
  2. Does not wash a narrow area along the plinth.
  3. Small capacity of the dust collector.
  4. It is not possible to configure cleaning parameters individually for each room.
  5. The actual suction power is lower than stated.
  6. Overpriced.

And that’s not all. I would also like to highlight the comments, comparing with analogues that have appeared and will soon be on sale. In my opinion, this is what the Dreame Bot W10 is missing in order to confidently beat other robot vacuum cleaners with a mopping pads rinsing station:

  1. There is no object recognition system.
  2. There is no bay for unloading litter from the dust collector.
  3. The cleaning module with mopping pads does not rise when driving on carpets.

As a result, Dreame Bot W10 left a mostly positive impression, and as a pioneer of robot vacuum cleaners with a rinsing function, it is clearly catching an eye and has high hopes for the further development of this and other options that will simplify the maintenance of robot vacuum cleaners and make them more autonomous. Wet cleaning with an intermediate rinse of the cloth is a really effective solution that is a must when cleaning large areas, mainly on hard surfaces. And Dreame Bot W10 copes with this task at a high level. It has its strengths and weaknesses compared to the competitors, but in any case, it deserves to be considered one of the best robot vacuum cleaners with a wet cleaning function in 2022!

Obviously, the price will be not as sky-high as the Roborock S7 MaxV and Ecovacs Deebot OMNI X1. Moreover, unlike the new Ecovax models, this robot is sold in a global version, which is important. It remains only to understand how other new products will perform in comparison with: Xiaomi Mijia Self-Cleaning Robot Vacuum-Mop Pro, which will be on my review in less than a month, and Roidmi EVA, which should cost up to $ 800 at the start of sales and is able to just recognize objects on the floor and additionally unload garbage from the dust collector to the station. At least this was announced by the manufacturer. But if you remember Roidmi Eve Plus, with which not everything is as good as we would like, then in the case of EVA, if story repeats, then it is not a fact that it will be better than Dreame Bot W10 in the overall result.

So I recommend subscribing to the channel to not miss the publication of video reviews of similar models and their comparison with each other.
