Hey guys, welcome to Robotobzor! Today we’ll review a top robot vacuum cleaner, the DreameBot X30 Pro. This company’s best for 2023. The price ranged from $1200-1350. For its price, the robot is equipped with a huge amount of advanced design solutions. If I started listing all of them – the introduction would be longer than the video, so let’s just go straight to the review. Now, I’ll review Dreame Bot X30 Pro, see its pros and cons, and let you know if it is worth it. Don’t forget to like and subscribe, and let’s get rolling!
Regionality
Firstly you should know that Dreame Bot X30 Pro was made for the Chinese market. Accordingly, you can’t just use it outside of China, but you need to bypass regional blocks.
At the time of this review, it can be bypassed on both iOS and Android. I didn’t describe the method in detail so it doesn’t get taken down by the brand’s representatives.
Kit
The robot came in this branded box:
Aside from the base and robot itself, it includes:
- A power cord with a Chinese plug.
- A tool for cleaning the vacuum and the base.
- Two cloth holders.
- The brand’s detergent.
- A documents in Chinese.
Pretty standard, no spares.
Plus, you can add a module to the robot for connecting to the sewage and water. It costs around 14-18k rubles. The kit includes a magnetic control unit, through which water flows from the water supply to the station, as well as various tubes, adapters, connectors and other accessories for connecting the station to the network. Including a manual in Chinese.
Appearance
Now, let’s see how DreameBot X30 Pro looks. Let’s start with the robot itself. It’s black and round. The plastic is matte, and the robot stands at 104 mm (4 In.).
On the right side of the bumper is a wall sensor. One of the robot’s key features, a camera for recognizing objects on the floor and tracking the house remotely, is located in the front.
Both sides ogf the cam have 3D sensors and LED lights, thanks to which the robot is able to accurately recognize objects in complete darkness. The backlight turns on automatically.
There are three buttons on the control panel. Navigation is handled with Lidar, which is protected with a spring-loaded cover. The 350ml (11.8 Oz.) dust container is placed under the top cover.
The HEPA filter is now on top. In front of it is a mesh filter, giving the robot two step filtration. Both the container and filter can be washed with water. The 80 ml (2.7 Oz.) water tank is hidden inside the robot, and water automatically pumps into the station. water is automatically pumped into it at the station.
The robot has 4 anti-fall sensors, and a carpet sensor near the roller. There’s a 3 beamed side brush, and a fluid center brush. And here’s the thing about the turbo brush, it’s the second serious advantage of the Dreame Bot X30 Pro – it has blades that cut through hair and fur wrapped around the brush.
As you rotate the turbo brush, it self-cleans and detangles. One side of the brush disassembles and you can remove the bristles to clean, which is very convenient.
If you want, you can also install a regular bristle brush or a silicone brush from the L-series, such as the Dreame Bot L10s Ultra or Dreame Bot L20/L30 Ultra, into this robot. Napkin holders are mounted on the robot. The holders have magnets, and the napkins themselves are held on Velcro.
I’ll add that Dreame Bot X30 Pro can automatically lift the wipes when driving on carpeting. That’s a plus.
And here’s the next best feature – the retractable napkin holder. The paw slides out to the right, so that the wipe comes out of the body. There is no blind spot between the edge of the robot and the baseboard. A cool solution, which we already saw in other Dreame vacuums!
The station is as self sufficient as you can get. It self-cleans the dirt bag, washes the cloths with hot water, dries them with warm air after cleaning, and even automatically mixes detergent into the water when washing and refilling the tank of the robot itself.
Many people like it just for the station alone. It has become narrower and slightly smaller in height and depth. You can see the difference your self:
For those wondering, the Dreame Bot X30 Pro’s station is 82, 5 cm (32.4 In.) tall with the lid up.
The water tanks are under the top cover. They are still quite spacious, the dirty tank filling up 4 liters (1 G.) and the clean one 4.5 (1.18 G). Inside the latter, a silver disinfection module is installed. We see that there is no detergent tank, it’s been moved.
Conveniently, the driveway for driving the robot up and washing the wipes has been removed. Instead, they upgraded by adding scrapers at the bottom that clean the bottom of the station each time the wipes are washed. This makes the station easier to maintain. The wiper module itself isn’t compatible with previous models. Another new feature of the station is UV wipe disinfection after washing and drying. The UV lamp turns on automatically after the drying cycle. I can’t test how effective it is, I just wanted to point it out.
The station’s platform has magnetic pins. They are needed for the Dreame Bot X30 Pro to unhook the holders with wipes at the station if needed. Thus, the robot can leave the station only for vacuuming without wipes, which completely eliminates the wipes contact with the carpet. A unique and very clever solution.
The garbage bag is located in the middle behind the lid. The bag itself has a standard capacity of 3.2 liters (.84 G.). And next to it is just a container for detergent, which is automatically mixed with clean water. This reusable container is more convenient than cartridges. You can order a liter bottle, which is cheaper than the two 450 ml (15 Oz.) cartridges from X20.
As a reminder, the station has fittings for connecting to the sewer and water supply. They’re on the top.
The design of the module has been changed, so X30 isn’t compatible with the module from X20 or L20/L30.
As a result, we can see that a number of small changes have been made to help make it more efficient. I’d also like a D-shaped body so that the robot can sweep out corners. I think that’ll be the next breakthrough for Deame in 2024!
Technical features
DreameBot X30 Pro’s main features are up on the screen:
Vacuum:
- Battery Li-Ion 6400 mA*h.
- Suction power up to 8300 Pa.
- Work time up to 260 mins.
- Dirt container 350 ml (11.8 Oz.).
- Water tank 80 ml (2.7 Oz.).
- Obstacle size up to 20 mm (.78 In.).
- Size: 350*104 mm (13.7×4.05 In.).
Base:
- Clean water tank: 4,5 L (1.1 G.).
- Dirty water tank: 4 L (1 G.).
- Bag in station: 3,2 L (.84 G.).
- Size (HWD): 591*340*457 mm (23x13x18).
From the characteristics it’s important to emphasize only the supposed high suction power, which I’ll have to test. The robot became even more powerful! Even compared to the Dreame Bot L30 Ultra, the power’s been increased by another 1000 Pa!
Functions
Dreame Bot X30 Pro is controlled through the Dreamehome app. I mentioned the issue with the regionality at the start. I’ll only note that the app is in several languages, the interface was updated, and everything looks more convenient. But the robot speaks only in Chinese, so keep that in mind.
Dreame Bot X3F0 Pro Plus’s main functions:
- Self-cleaning.
- Cloth washing with hot water (58°C/136°F).
- Wipe drying with hot air.
- Automatic detergent dispensing.
- Wipe lifts on carpets.
- Mops floors under furniture.
- Object detection.
- Camera light in dark spaces.
- Away home monitoring.
- Saves multiple maps in memory.
- 3D-map of the area.
- Automatically zones space into rooms.
- Individual zone and room choice.
- Virtual walls and no-go zones (for mopping).
- Suction regulation.
- How often wipes should be cleaned (by room, by area, by time).
- User mode.
- Ultimate mode.
- Cleaning log.
- Cleaning schedule.
- Auto power increase on carpets.
- Carpet avoidance while mopping.
- Automatically takes off the wipe holder at the base.
- Voice assistant included.
There’s a lot of ways to flexibly adjust your cleaning cycle. It’s worth noting that the voice assistant understands commands only in Chinese, unfortunately. Only new additions were the added the possibility of washing wipes not only after each cleaned zone and after a certain traveled area, but also after a specified time in the interval from 10 to 50 minutes in increments of 5 minutes, as well as a new mode for improved floor cleaning under furniture, doors and other objects that have a small gap underneath. The robot not only extends the cloth to the right, but also rotates the body so that it goes even deeper into the gap. Pretty cool feature!
Separately, I’ll demonstrate the remote home monitoring function. By entering the password you made, the camera switches on, through which you can see your house in high quality from your phone. You can either manually control the robot or pin a place on the map where it should go by itself. You can also take photos, which will be saved in a separate folder, and send voice messages through the robot’s speaker. Well, and there is another useful option – in the guard mode you move the robot to the wanted location, where it can do a 360 capture of your room. Very convenient. The only thing is that the image broadcasting is a bit slow, due to the fact that Dreame Bot X30 Pro works through Chinese servers. Not life or death, but noticable.
They added other experimental functions too. For example, the auto power increase on dirt is being tested. But so far this mode doesn’t work, at least in my case it didn’t do anything.
Testing
Navigation
And finally let’s move on to the tests. First of all, let’s check the navigation in a room with obstacles. The robot first goes around the perimeter of the room, then cleans the area in a snake-like pattern. It went around the dryer legs, and swept around the chair legs and box, then returned to the bae. Test passed with flying colors!
As for the rest of the house, the robot cleans room by room around the perimeter, then in a zig zag. After every 15 square meters (50 ft.) of cleaning, as I found, it returns to the station and cleans the wipes, then starts cleaning from where it left off. Everything’s clean, and the navigation is good!
Object detection
The object detection system is very accurate. The robot successfully recognized 6 out of 6 objects. That’s a great result! And here’s the Dreame Bot X30 Pro in total darkness.
It did a bit worse in the dark, seeing only 4 out of 6 objects, and even pinning some on the map. Hopefully a software update will fix this, because even the X20 did better.
Compared to other models, Dreame has one of the most accurate object recognition systems, but it’s still not perfect. In any case, the robot is very careful to avoid objects and hardly touches the furniture, but Dreame’s engineers still have some work to do!
Suction power
But the suction power was impressive. Dreame Bot X30 Pro sucked dirt out from a 10mm (.39 In.) crack without any problems. This is definitely a very powerful vacuum. And by observation, it’s actually even more powerful than the X20 because the cracks are cleaned better. It almost completely cleaned the entire length, not just partially.
Vacuuming and the TurboBrush
It did good picking up different objects on the laminate. Only some dirt is left in the corners, but that’s common with round robots. But even in the corners, it sweeps out a little better than most other round robots.
The center brush didn’t get any hair or fur wrapped up on it, and all of the dirt is in the bag. So the new turbo brush blade is definitely better than the silicone one and even more so than the regular bristle-brush!
In normal household conditions, I even checked the condition of the brush several times after a full cleaning cycle. It’s literally completely clean. So, if you are on the hunt for a vacuum that picks up hair, check out this vacuum, or the turbo brush by itself, which can be repurposed in previous Dreame robots!
Carpet cleaning
The robot does a quality job cleaning carpets. Both thanks to the high power and the fluid turbo brush module. Test passed!
Mopping on carpets
As for mopping near carpets, you get three choices. The first is to automatically pick up the wipes when you drive onto the carpets, which allows the robot to vacuum and wipe the floor at the same time, leaving the carpets dry and clean.
The second option is to turn on the auto carpet detection function while mopping. And here’s your third choice. The robot first vacuums and mops the floor, then drives to the base, automatically unhooks the wipes and returns to the floor, and keeps vacuuming. This is important for taller carpets to never have contact with the mop.
The idea is very cool. And it’s not just because the carpets aren’t getting wet, but the solution is actually more reliable than lifting the wipes on the carpets. The system can fail if used frequently.
Scrubbing dirt
This robot does a good job of scrubbing dirt. And you can see that thanks to the extended wipe, the robot scrubs out the baseboard. There’s still a blind spot, but it’s only in corners where the round wipe can’t go.
And another important thing – Dreame X30 has an updated floor cleaning mode along the baseboard and in the corners. When it goes into corners, it backs up and mops the floor in the corners as tightly as possible. A cool change that deserves recognition.
In any case, the quality for everyday mopping is actually the best so far! No streaks and traces of dirt remain, this test is passed!
Scrubbing hard stains
Dreame Bot X30 Pro failed to scrub difficult stains, just like the X20 Pro, L30 and other Dreame robots. It was still able to scrub coffee stains, but dried sauce stains were above its capabilities. The scrubbing quality is inferior to some premium competitors in the premium segment.
Nevertheless, for domestic conditions, I believe that the realized function of wet cleaning will be more than enough. But, again, Dreame engineers have a lot more to work on.
Cloth cleaning quality
And right away I’d like to test how efficient the station is. Let’s start with the quality of wipes washing. With everyday conditions after washing the floor from dirt, the wipes are really dirty. And after washing the wipes I can say that they are really clean. A good amount of dirt is washed out under the pressure of warm water. That’s a plus!
But after difficult stains, the wipes don’t wash out too well. Although again, such difficult stains can only be washed by a washing machine with powder. So I think that having a heated water function is a good decision, which slightly, but still improves the quality of washing the napkins.
And washing the station itself is easy if you run the station cleaning function in the app. The robot moves off the platform, immediately remove the ridge platform, because water starts to pour into the tray. When the tray is filled, we take the brush and clean the bottom. By the way, it is not very dirty thanks to the scrapers that clean the bottom when washing wipes. We also remove the gangway for the robot to get in. We rinse everything with water in the sink and put it back in. The station is clean! Everything’s convenient, but let’s say for me it’s more convenient when the whole tray with the bottom is removed for rinsing in the sink, like in the W10 Pro.
Self-cleaning quality
The self-cleaning quality of the dirt container is good. I ran the robot in a room with a lot of dirt, which it cleaned and packed the bag to the brim. After the robot returns to the station, the container is almost completely cleaned. I only found a little hairball, but that’s probably by chance. Self-cleaning is done very well!
Obstacles
The 2 cm (.78 In.) high thresholds are no match for the vacuum, and it goes over without a problem, while lifting the wipes. That’s a plus!
Dark spaces
Black surfaces don’t scare it either, it drives over a black mat with no problem. This is another advantage!
Volume
As for the volume, it’s within 57-72 dB. The volume is quite standard for this model, given the high suction power.
Connecting to sewage
Lastly, I’ll show you how the auto water drain and fill system works when the special module is connected. I made a neater way of connecting everything: I put a socket next to the station, which I simply glued to the tiles on the wall, and also hid the hoses in the baseboard, one of which is connected to the water with the help of a straight-through outlet included in the kit, and the second one is connected to the siphon under the sink. That is, initially I didn’t plan to have this when renovating my home, but it’ll do. You can steal my ideas for your own reference.
Start the self-cleaning function and voila – water is drawn into the clean water tank and after washing the wipes is drained into the sewer. The lid must be closed, as the system requires a vacuum to operate, so keep this in mind.
Opinion
DreameBot X30 Pro Plus was thoroughly reviewed and tested. Our evaluation system gave it 202 points, entering it to the top 3 of the overall rating of tested robot vacuums, moving Dreame Bot X20 Pro Plus out of its place. Keep in mind that I removed 10 points for problems with regionalization, and also for the lack of a voice assistant, notification in several languages and official distributors on the market, respectively, in the global version of the score will be even higher and predictably even higher than the current global Dreame Bot L30 Ultra. I’ll highlight the pros and cons, after which I will share my own opinion about the robot.
- Maximized mopping. Here we are talking about the retractable wipe, thanks to which the robot thoroughly cleans the areas along the baseboard and furniture. And thanks to updated algorithms, where the wipe can get corners and furniture gaps.
- Maximally self-sufficient by 2023’s standards, where Dreame Bot X30 Pro self-cleans the dust container, washes wipes with hot water, dries with warm air and even automatically mixes detergent and disinfects wipes with ultraviolet lamp. Moreover, the station is very effective in its tasks, which applies to self-cleaning, and washing, and drying. And the station became smaller.
- A utility connection module is available as an option. The robot can be connected to utilities, making it more self-sufficient.
- The turbo brush is self-cleaning with a built-in blade and doesn’t get tangled with hair and fur. No need to clean it by hand.
- Object detection system. The robot actually cleans better and is less likely to snag a wire, sock or some other household item.
- Remote home tracking through the robot’s camera.
- Automatic wipe holders removal at the station for full dry cleaning.
- Larger water tank in the station.
- Ultimate mode, thanks to which the robot chooses its own cleaning algorithm.
- High-quality mopping and vacuuming on any surface.
- Automatic lifting of wipes when driving on carpets.
- Convenient robot and station maintenance.
- Lots of functions for flexible cleaning.
- Good off-road.
- Robot vacuum cleaner’s not afraid of black flooring.
- Stylish design.
- Quality assembly and brand authority.
As for what could be improved, here’s some comments:
- The vacuum is designed for the Chinese market, with regional blocking, which has to be bypassed.
- There’s no full service and warranty support from the manufacturers. Again, due to the fact that the version is for the Chinese market.
- The firm built-in voice assistant only takes phrases in Chinese.
- The image is delayed due to Chinese servers.
- Does not fully sweep out dirt in the corners.
- Can’t scrub complex dirt.
- Object detection system needs some work.
In summary, at the time of writing this review, which is early December 2023, Dreame Bot X30 Pro is one of the best robot vacuums in terms of features, efficiency, and mopping. The only ones that can compete with it are the Global L-series models, namely the Dreame Bot L20 Ultra and the Dreame Bot L30 Ultra. And here’s the question most ask – which one to choose? The top global Dreame – L30 Ultra or the flagship Chinese version X30 Pro?
I can say that in reality, the X30 Pro has gotten a few small but important tweaks. These include a new turbo brush with a blade, a more compact station, a floor cleaning function in the gaps under furniture, an ultraviolet lamp in the station, higher power, and more convenient detergent refilling. Small updates, but each equally important. So if we’re being objective, yes, the X30 Pro is slightly better than the L30 Ultra in terms of design and features. But the upgrade for many people may not be so serious and at the same time for the L30 warranty, service, several languages straight out of the box and the brand’s voice assistant. And some, on the contrary, will consider the updates worth it. Personally for me, L30 Ultra will remain the leader at the end of 2023. But at the same time I have kept the X20 Pro since its review and will wait for a more serious breakthrough from Dreame. Maybe I’ll just buy a new turbo brush, since it’s compatible. But whatever you choose: X20 Pro, X30 Pro, L20 Ultra or L30 Ultra, they are definitely the best robot vacuum cleaners of 2023 with their own strengths and weaknesses.
On this note, I’d like to end the review. If you still have questions, feel free to ask them in the comments down below Have fun shopping, bye!
