Dreame H12: Cordless Wet & Dry vacuum cleaner with improved cleaning module

Dreame H12 Dreame

Hi everyone! Today we will review a cordless wet & dry vacuum cleaner called Dreame H12. The device differs from its predecessors H11 and H11 Max primarily in an improved cleaning module. On one side, the roller is moved almost to the edge, which made it possible to solve the problem of most of these devices, namely, not washing a narrow strip along the plinth and other objects. Next, I will review and test the Dreame H12 in detail, after which I will express my own opinion if it worth buying this washing cordless vacuum cleaner. The price at the time of writing the review is about $400, which is slightly more expensive than the previous model H11 Max. Let’s go!

The set is complete. There are all the necessary accessories and consumables for the operation of the vacuum cleaner, this is a plus.

Design

Now let’s look at how the Dreame H12 is designed. Let’s start with the cleaning module. As I said, the roller was moved to one of the edges, to the right, which made it possible to partially solve the problem of wiping dirt close to the plinth. Why partially? Because the roller does not come out straight to the edge, the roller lock is moved even closer to the edge.

The roller itself is conveniently removed by pressing the button on top. In addition, you can remove the protective cover for washing and convenient maintenance of the cleaning module. Behind the roller there is a suction hole and a serrated surface for removing debris from the roller during cleaning and self-cleaning.

Above the cleaning module is a dirty water tank. It is designed for 500 ml. A HEPA filter with a mesh is installed inside, as well as a system of sensors to control the liquid level. When filling the tank with dirty water, Dreame H12 will notify you to drain it.

A bit higher is a tank for clean water. On top of it is a hole with a sealed valve for pouring water. A coarse filter is installed inside.

Above the clean water tank there is a large informative LED display, which displays the percentage of battery charge, the selected operating mode and service messages. Around the display we see a bright lighting indicator, showing the level of suction power. It is important to note here that Dreame H12 is able to automatically increase suction power when pollution is detected. Unfortunately, manual power adjustment is not provided.

There are three mechanical control buttons on the handle: power on and off, switching between two operating modes (automatic and liquid collection), as well as starting the self-cleaning function when the vacuum cleaner is installed on the charging station.

It is important to note that there is another mechanical button on the back, which is responsible for switching the language of voice packages. Dreame H12 supports voice alerts in multiple languages.

Well, in addition, I would like to note that this vacuum cleaner supports vertical parking outside the station, which is very convenient.

And here’s how the vacuum cleaner is charged and self-cleaned at the station:

In general, the design of the new Dreame H12 is almost identical to a previous model H11 Max. The difference is only in the cleaning module, specifically in the location of the roller.

Specifications

The main characteristics of the Dreame H12, declared by the manufacturer:

  • Battery: Li-Ion, 4000 mAh.
  • Power consumption: 200 W.
  • Operating time: up to 35 min.
  • Clean water tank: 900 ml.
  • Dirty water tank: 500 ml.
  • Noise level: 72-72.5 dB.
  • Weight: 4.75 kg.

Specifications are almost identical to H11 Max. One minute less operating time and 150 grams plus in weight when compared to manufacturer’s data. But this is not critical at all. Here it is important to note a high-capacity battery. The suction power is not specified by the manufacturer, but will be partially verified in tests. The noise level was checked personally. It is in the range of 72-73 dB. The device works pretty quietly, as for washing cordless vacuum cleaners.

Testing

Suction power

Well, let’s move on to the tests. First of all, let’s check the suction power of the Dreame H12. I didn’t fill in the water so we can check how well the vacuum cleaner sucks up the garbage in “dry” conditions. So it managed to carefully suck out debris from cracks up to 10 mm deep, which is at the level of vertical vacuum cleaners for dry cleaning. The same result was demonstrated by the H11 Max. I can say that this is a really powerful floor vacuum cleaner.

Dry cleaning

Speaking of collecting different types of derbish on the laminate, Dreame H12 can easily cope with this task. It is able to suck up not only small household debris, but also wool with hair. It is important to note that the roller practically does not wrap wool and hair around itself. Test passed successfully!

Carpet cleaning

Given that this is a washing vacuum cleaner, it is not rational to use it for cleaning carpets. But this is still possible if you do not fill the tank with water or use the liquid collection mode, which is simply suction of debris without water supply. The roller, despite its fluffy structure, is able to collect wool, hair and other debris. Although, again, debris can clog the suction hole and block the brush, which happened during the tests, since the debris suction system does not work quite correctly without water. In general, I still recommend cleaning carpets with an ordinary upright vacuum cleaner, or giving this task to a robot that is suitable in design and power.

Washing the floor

But this vacuum cleaner just does a great job with washing the floor, and now I will demonstrate it.

Dreame H12 is suitable not only for collecting liquids, but also for various mixtures, for example, as already in the traditional test with a broken egg and scattered flour. He ground the eggshells and collected all the gruel from the floor. Excellent result!

It also does a good job cleaning the floor. Speaking of washing off dirt close to the baseboard, as expected, due to the fact that the roller is not taken out right close to the edge, a very narrow non-washable strip remains. Not critical, but since the upgrade was built specifically on solving this problem, unfortunately Dreame engineers did not solve the problem completely, as, for example, they managed to solve in Roborock Dyad. But anyway, it is worth focusing on the fact that Dreame H12 washes dirt along the plinth much better than almost all analogues, except for Roborock.

With rubbing off difficult stains, such as dried coffee and sauce on the floor, Dreame H12 copes really well. But it took him 10 minutes to wipe off these stains, like most other vacuum cleaners. But what is remarkable, Dreame H11 Max completed this task in 4 minutes. Either the roller in the previous model is better pressed against the floor, or this time the spots have more strongly curled into the surface. It is not clear why it took longer. In both cases branded detergent was involved.

I can say that when testing the Dreame H12, it really demonstrated the high quality of washing the floor and high suction power. At the same time, all tests were carried out on one battery charge, and it was used only halfway. So it is not only powerful, but also an autonomous cordless vacuum cleaner.

It remains only to check the quality of self-cleaning after all the tests, and here, again, Dreame H12 pleasantly surprised. It self-cleans from debris and dirt really ell. There was a small amount of debris left above the roller, but this is not critical, given how much dirt and debris it collected during the tests. The main thing is that the roller is clean after the self-cleaning cycle. Test passed successfully!

Here, by the way, it is important to note the fact that the self-cleaning cycle has been increased when compared with the H11 Max. The new model self-cleans in 2 minutes 20 seconds, while the previous model self-cleans in about 1 minute 15 seconds. In theory, increasing the time increases the efficiency of self-cleaning.

Summing up

Dreame H12 was reviewed and tested in detail. Here are the advantages of the model that I can highlight:

  1. High quality floor cleaning and dirt removal.
  2. It wipes off dirt along the plinth better than many analogues
  3. High suction power.
  4. Automatic power increase when determining pollution.
  5. Stylish design.
  6. Ergonomic design.
  7. Informative LED display on the case.
  8. Self-cleaning function that effectively performs its task.
  9. Noise level is below average.
  10. Voice alerts.
  11. Good equipment, including branded detergent.
  12. High-quality assembly.

Speaking of disadvantages, I did not like this moments:

  1. Manual suction power adjustment is not provided.
  2. There is no way to regulate the level of water supply.
  3. Not suitable for carpet cleaning.
  4. Doesn’t wash a narrow strip along the plinth, although it is worth noting that this strip is very narrow.

In general, the remarks are not major, considering all the advantages, and most importantly, the Dreame H12 does an excellent job of cleaning the floor and wiping off complex dirt, so it is definitely recommended for purchase. A little work on the elimination of disadvantages was done and it pleases. The only pity is that the solution is not complete, not all problems are solved that were found in the H11 Max. However, when choosing between these two washing vacuum cleaners, if the difference in price is small, it is better to give preference to the new device.

On this note, I would like to end the review. If you have any questions, ask them in the comments below. Happy tech shopping. Bye!
